Using the service

Flatscan is a free tool that applies a “scanned” appearance to documents and images in your browser. By using it you agree to these terms.

Your files and your responsibility

Your files stay on your device and remain yours. You are responsible for the documents you process and for what you do with the result.

Only use the service on documents you have the right to copy, modify and share.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service to forge, falsify or misrepresent documents, to deceive any person or organization, to infringe someone’s rights, or to break the law.

A document processed with this tool is an imitation of a scan. It is not an original, a certified copy or a legal instrument, and it does not carry the legal effect of a wet-ink signature or a qualified electronic signature. Follow the rules of the organization you submit documents to.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the output will meet any particular requirement. Always check the generated file before you rely on it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of the service or of the files it produces.

Open-source components

The service includes open-source software such as pdf.js and docx-preview. Their licenses apply to those components.

Changes

We may change these terms or the service at any time. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
