Frequently asked questions
Are the numbers real pixels?
Yes. X, Y, width and height are pixels of your original image, counted from the top-left corner. The crop is cut from the original picture, so nothing is resampled.
Can I rotate the image before cropping?
Yes. Use the rotate buttons above the picture. The crop box turns with the image. Turning works in steps of 90 degrees.
What happens to transparent areas?
PNG and WebP keep them. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas turn white when you save as JPG.
Are location and camera details kept?
No. The cropped image is saved as a new file without EXIF data such as GPS location. The orientation of the photo is applied to the pixels.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser on your own device, so private documents stay private. You can check this in your browser’s network panel.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files need a lot of memory, so on an older phone a smaller file works best.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
