Frequently asked questions
Will my pictures look blurry?
Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger cannot add detail that is not in the original, so enlarged pictures look softer. To enlarge with a bit of sharpening, try Upscale image.
What does “Keep the proportions” do?
Every picture keeps its own shape: you set the width or the height and the other side follows. Turn it off to give every picture exactly the width and height you typed, which stretches pictures that have a different shape.
Which file format do I get?
By default each picture keeps its format. GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG files are saved as PNG, and an animated GIF keeps only its first frame. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP to convert all pictures to that format.
How large can a picture be?
Up to 16,384 pixels on a side and 100 megapixels in total. Very large pictures need a lot of memory, so on a phone it is best to stay well below that.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser on your own device, so private documents stay private. You can check this in your browser’s network panel.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files need a lot of memory, so on an older phone a smaller file works best.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
