Frequently asked questions
Can I start the numbering at a different number?
Yes. Choose the first number and, if you like, a range of pages. The first number is printed on the first numbered page and the numbers count up from there. To keep a cover page without a number, turn on the option to skip the first page.
Will the numbers be in the right place on rotated or landscape pages?
Yes. The position is measured on the page as you see it, so “bottom center” is at the bottom of the page you look at, even if the page is stored rotated. The numbers are always upright.
Is the rest of my PDF changed?
No. The numbers are drawn on top of each page. Text, images, links, bookmarks and form fields stay as they are. A digitally signed PDF loses its signature when it is changed.
Can I write “Page” and “of” in another language?
The words are always printed in English, because the fonts built into the PDF format only cover Latin letters. Choose the plain number format if you want to avoid words.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser on your own device, so private documents stay private. You can check this in your browser’s network panel.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files need a lot of memory, so on an older phone a smaller file works best.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
