Frequently asked questions
Does it find faces on its own?
You mark faces and other details by hand: drag on the picture to draw a rectangle, an ellipse or a freehand stroke. If your browser can find faces automatically, a button for it appears. Always check the picture yourself.
Can a hidden area be brought back?
No. The areas are replaced in the saved picture at its full size, so the original pixels are gone from the file. Keep your original file if you still need it. A light blur can sometimes be reversed, so for numbers and text use the black box or a strong pixelation.
Which effect should I use?
Blur looks natural, pixelate looks like a classic censor and the black box hides everything. For license plates, numbers and documents, use the black box.
Are location and camera details removed?
Yes. The saved picture is a new file without EXIF data such as GPS location. The orientation of the photo is applied to the pixels.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser on your own device, so private documents stay private. You can check this in your browser’s network panel.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files need a lot of memory, so on an older phone a smaller file works best.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
