Frequently asked questions
Does it come with meme templates?
No. To avoid copyright problems, no templates or third-party pictures are included. Use your own photo or screenshot, or make a meme on a plain color background.
Which font is used for the captions?
The classic meme font Impact when your device has it, otherwise a similar heavy font such as Arial Black. No fonts are downloaded, so the look can differ a little from device to device.
How does the text fit into its box?
With automatic sizing the text becomes as large as possible while it stays inside its box, and it wraps onto more lines when that helps. Turn automatic sizing off to choose the size yourself.
Which size and format does the meme have?
The meme keeps the size of your picture, up to 30 megapixels. PNG keeps every pixel sharp, JPG makes a smaller file that is easier to share.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser on your own device, so private documents stay private. You can check this in your browser’s network panel.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files need a lot of memory, so on an older phone a smaller file works best.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
